the pirate
Pistol in his left hand, pistol in his right,
And he held in his teeth a cutlass bright,
His beard was black, one leg was wood;
It was clear that the pirate meant no good.
Henry requested a crocheted pirate and dragon for his birthday presents. The dragon isn't done yet, but here's the pirate. He's 5" tall, crocheted without a pattern. Based on Henry's favorite poem, The Tale of Custard the Dragon by Ogden Nash

PORK is here!
In case you have been living under a rock, you may not know that we've been working our butts off (especially Sean!) on our new magazine, PORK, and the debut issue just hit the streets yesterday.
PORK is FREE and you can find it all over Portland and Eugene, and coming soon to other cities. You can also get a subscription. More info on how to get some PORK is here.

Nathaniel's Crossed Quilt
You may remember a few months back when I posted a picture of these fabrics which I purchased without any idea as to what they would become. After letting them sit in my space for a little while, I realized they would make a perfect quilt for my friend Heather's baby.
The quilt measures 30" x 40"; my own design. I used one piece of the large dots for the back, and bound the quilt with the blue & brown stripe. I finished the quilt a few weeks ago (actually the day before Heather went into labor!), and was able to deliver it to baby Nathaniel last week.

Tiger Quilt
36" x 36", hand cut and machine appliqued tiger based on this design by Sean. I made this as a test run for future appliqued projects, and I like how it came out a lot.
I did the applique work at the same time as the quilting, so that there is an outline-only version of the tiger on the back of the quilt.
The tiger stripes are quilted in the same orange color as the tiger, but the lightning bolts are quilted in hot pink.

Henry's Caterpillar Quilt
I finished this one back in January, but the day it was done it went straight onto Henry's bed and I just put off taking pictures.
74" x 52", my own design using The Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric. I was browsing fabric online with Henry last summer, and he spotted it and immediately requested a quilt made from it.
When I asked him what he wanted on the back he said, "my name, real big!"
