We went to Skate World for Rowan's birthday party. Henry was a trooper! He couldn't quite get the hang of it, but he kept on trying! I hadn't been skating in at least 15 years, but after two trips around the rink, I found my skate legs. I had such a blast! I can't wait to go back!

the pirate

Pistol in his left hand, pistol in his right,
And he held in his teeth a cutlass bright,
His beard was black, one leg was wood;
It was clear that the pirate meant no good.

Henry requested a crocheted pirate and dragon for his birthday presents. The dragon isn't done yet, but here's the pirate. He's 5" tall, crocheted without a pattern. Based on Henry's favorite poem, The Tale of Custard the Dragon by Ogden Nash

Went to check out the new YOGURT EXTREME shop over by campus. You pick your flavor and toppings and pay by weight. They even have frozen custard! Yum.

Got the Diana plastic lens for DSLR, just trying it out. It is tricky and unpredictable; I like it!

PORK is here!

In case you have been living under a rock, you may not know that we've been working our butts off (especially Sean!) on our new magazine, PORK, and the debut issue just hit the streets yesterday.

PORK is FREE and you can find it all over Portland and Eugene, and coming soon to other cities. You can also get a subscription. More info on how to get some PORK is here.

Amelia and her bodyguard. We styled an amazing photo shoot for PORK today.

My two new bags! I did the stud (and eye) job on the blue handbag, and I got a colorful new photo gear bag!

Nathaniel's Crossed Quilt

Nathaniel's Crossed Quilt

You may remember a few months back when I posted a picture of these fabrics which I purchased without any idea as to what they would become. After letting them sit in my space for a little while, I realized they would make a perfect quilt for my friend Heather's baby.

Nathaniel's Crossed Quilt front

The quilt measures 30" x 40"; my own design. I used one piece of the large dots for the back, and bound the quilt with the blue & brown stripe. I finished the quilt a few weeks ago (actually the day before Heather went into labor!), and was able to deliver it to baby Nathaniel last week.

Tiger Quilt

Tiger Quilt front

36" x 36", hand cut and machine appliqued tiger based on this design by Sean. I made this as a test run for future appliqued projects, and I like how it came out a lot.

Tiger Quilt back

I did the applique work at the same time as the quilting, so that there is an outline-only version of the tiger on the back of the quilt.

Tiger Quilt close

The tiger stripes are quilted in the same orange color as the tiger, but the lightning bolts are quilted in hot pink.

Henry's Caterpillar Quilt

I finished this one back in January, but the day it was done it went straight onto Henry's bed and I just put off taking pictures.

Henry's Caterpillar Quilt front

74" x 52", my own design using The Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric. I was browsing fabric online with Henry last summer, and he spotted it and immediately requested a quilt made from it.

Henry's Caterpillar Quilt back

When I asked him what he wanted on the back he said, "my name, real big!"

Fun afternoon activity: take apart a broken digital camera and see what's inside (a lot of tiny screws and this stuff). Bonus picture of digital camera investigators shot through the lens of the broken camera:
