Took the boys to Dawn Baby Salon for their first pro haircuts. Otto did great, Henry had a really hard time, but they both look fantastic!

Sweaterpants!

sweaterpants front

I was cleaning up my studio this morning and came across a bag of wool sweaters I'd bought at a thrift store and then felted in the washing machine, so I decided to whip up a pair of sweaterpants for James. And I made them too big/convertible (I can take out the stitches in the waistband to unfold it and unroll the cuffs), so they should fit him for a while, maybe even until it warms up again in spring!

I used the sweater's sleeves for legs, a piece of the body for the butt panel, and the neck for the waistband. That little patch going the wrong way on the left leg is covering two holes.

Otto's fall socks

Otto's fall socks

Otto asked me to knit him a new pair of fall socks, so I picked up this yarn (Patons Kroy Socks FX) in a nice fall colorway. Nancy Lindbergh's Knit to Fit socks pattern (my favorite) on US size 3 needles. I decided to make them a little too big so they will hopefully last until next spring/summer.

Fuck you, squirrels! We grew all these pumpkins in our garden, and the damn squirrels have been taking them out one at a time. And of course, they're not content to just keep eating the ones they've already destroyed. Can I put poison in a pumpkin? Or maybe I just need a BB gun.

Fire-Breathing Demon Halloween Sweater

baby's first pumpkin patch

I made this sweater about a million years ago (ok, only ten) and just now got around to taking a picture of it. Used the instructions in Kate Buller's "Style Your Own Kids Knits" and Rowan Cotton DK yarn. This was my first sweater, and my first colorwork ever, and I messed up the tension, so the demon is a little bumpy, but I still love it. I even made the buttons.

James seemed to like wearing it on his first trip to the pumpkin patch, too!

Introduced the boys to the toy record player. They loved it. Now we need to find a bunch more "you can read along with the book" records.

Took Sean out to Izakaya Meiji Co. to celebrate one year of him being in business for himself. Took this one while we were waiting at the bar for our table (and having a whiskey toast).

Matt ripped out our old fence. The negative space where the fence should be just looks so bizarre to me.
